The Original Filofax

I mentioned my Filofax earlier in one of my blog posts and really want to talk about just how great it is. It was a tough decision back when i decided to purchase my leather Finsbury, whether or not i would buy a Mulberry Congo planner instead to complement my other Mulberry Congo leather goods. In the end, i decided on Filofax as it was the original manufacturer of the personal organiser.

The story goes that it was an army officer who came up with the idea of the Filofax and the company name was coined for the name of the product when it was founded in 1921, deriving from an abbreviation of the phrase "file of facts". Its name is also descriptive of its use, that being a means of organising all the facts you need in a small ring binder, including things like street maps, addresses, notes etc. The useful closure strap is also great for chucking in all sorts of loose bits of paper, receipts and such like.

There is something old school and charming about owning a this English classic, whether you depend on it or not, it's just one of those things you find yourself enjoying owning.
